10 Rockefeller Plz # 3 New York, NY 10020-1903
Rockefeller Center is a complex of entertainment venues, shops, restaurants and office buildings in midtown Manhattan. You can spend the whole day here and have a lot of fun.
Rockefeller Center was opened in the midst of the Great Depression. John D. Rockefeller took the land as a lease from Columbia University, initially with a plan to build a new building of The Metropolitan Opera, but the market collapse in 1929 changed everything. It is amazing how it was possible to build a complex of 14 buildings during such a difficult time (there are 19 buildings now). There is a daily tour around Rockefeller Center that starts at 10am; buy tickets online in advance.
"Must-visit" program at Rockefeller Center includes:
Top of the Rock - go up to the top of a skyscraper, and you’ll get spectacular views of New York City and New Jersey. Top of the Rock and the Empire State Building are “competing’ what building has a better view from the rooftop. It is difficult to say, both skyscrapers give an incredible experience of getting lost somewhere in the clouds of the capital of the world.
Christmas tree lighting ceremony: decorated with a Swarovski star, thirty thousand garlands and lanterns, it is the main Christmas Tree of the City.
Skating rink: $27 entrance fee and $10 for skate rental. Check the exact price and rink’s schedule online.
Restaurants and bars - choose the one you like, we love them all.
