Thousands of sailors, marines and those serving in the Coast Guard come to Manhattan for the annual Fleet Week. Hundreds of demonstrations of military skills are held during the week. Some of the ships are open for everyone to visit at this time (you can get there from Pier 88). You will see a lot of people in uniform on the city streets.
