First weekend of May is known for the Sakura Matsuri festival in the New York Botanical Garden. The Botanical Garden is located in Brooklyn; so if you want to see the cherry blossoms and participate in other events of the festival, give this an entire day. This is an absolutely amazing experience to see more than 200 blossoming sakura trees. Purchase tickets online in advance. Otherwise you might spend up to an hour in line.
